Begin with where it will be used
Brightness and resolution matter when choosing a projector. In design, we also want to begin with the setting: where the device sits, which wall it faces and where it goes after viewing. That sequence can shape whether projection becomes part of everyday life.
Let the design adapt to the room
There is no single room size or furniture layout that represents homes in Japan. Different settings invite flexibility in placement, angle and movement. Those physical adjustments are an important design opportunity.
Connect specifications to the experience
Image quality is essential. We also consider the path from switching on to finding content, the clarity of angle adjustment and the work of putting the device away. In our view, these details help determine whether people keep using a product.
Learn through the object itself
In projector studies, including S1, we move between form proposals and the actions of carrying, placing and turning a real object. We want to understand the reasons a projector can earn a repeated place in daily life, alongside its technical specifications.
